Hit the road, Jack: Visiting teams sweep Friday night Hockey East action

Vermont 7 at Maine 2
ORONO, ME - Anthony DiCenzo and Jack Downing each scored twice to lead Vermont to their biggest win of the year, continuing Maine’s slide down the Hockey East standings. The Black Bears haven’t won in their last six contests, going 0-4-2 in those games. After Dan Sullivan allowed three goals on the first six shots he saw, Martin Oullette came on in relief for Maine. The Black Bears went 0-for-8 on the power play on the night.

Merrimack 4 at UNH 2
DURHAM, NH - Eleven Warriors found the score sheet as UNH suffered its second home loss in three weeks. Merrimack continues its strong play, extending its school-best season with its 18th win. Carter Madsen scored the game-winning goal for Merrimack, tallying 13:21 into the second period. Joe Cannata moved into a tie with BC’s John Muse for first in the league with his 18th win, stopping 27 Wildcat shots. Stevie Moses and Brett Kostolansky had the goals for UNH, which slipped back into a tie for first place with Boston College.
The Warriors will be without leading scorer Stephane Da Costa on Saturday after Da Costa suffered a knee injury during the game.

Boston College 3 at Providence 0
PROVIDENCE, RI - Cam Atkinson, Brian Gibbons and Bill Arnold scored for the Eagles, who finished another strong week with a blowout win. John Muse earned his second shutout in three games and third of the year, stopping all 24 shots he faced from the Friars. It was a 0-0 game until Atkinson opened the scoring five minutes into the third; Jimmy Hayes recorded two assists on the night as well. Alex Beaudry stopped 30 shots in a losing effort. The Eagles are once again tied with UNH for first place in the conference.

Northeastern 3 at Lowell 2 (OT)
LOWELL, MA - Jamie Oleksiak scored with 14 seconds remaining in overtime to move the Huskies into sole possession of fifth place in Hockey East. Michael Budd scored twice to earn the RiverHawks their third point in four games and Marc Boulanger made 31 saves. Wade MacLeod assisted on Tyler McNeely’s goal to open the scoring, earning a point in his tenth straight conference game. Chris Rawlings turned away 37 shots to earn the win and help the Huskies leapfrog Maine for fifth place in Hockey East.

Boston Universty 4 UMass 3 (OT)
AMHERST, MA - Garrett Noonan scored 1:46 into the extra frame to extend the Terriers’ Hockey East point streak to five games. Matt Nieto had three assists and Alex Chiasson also had three points, including a goal and the primary assist on Noonan’s game-winner. Kieran Millan stopped 23 shots for his 11th win of the season. UMass fell into a tie for seventh place with Vermont.
