Hockey East Week 13 - Saturday recap

at Northeastern 2, Vermont 0 -
BOSTON, MA - Wade MacLeod broke a scoreless tie with a power play snipe from the right face-off circle halfway through the third period and added an empty-net goal with 58 seconds remaining to help Northeastern earn a weekend split with the Catamounts. The Huskies - who totaled 17 shots on net in the first period alone - held Vermont to the same number of shots all game. It was Chris Rawlings' second shutout of the year, the last coming in a 5-0 home win over Providence in November.

at Massachusetts 4, Lowell 1
AMHERST, NY - The night before, UMass went up 4-1 before letting Lowell come back to tie the game. This night, the RiverHawks would have no such luck. Daniel Hobbs set up two Adam Phillips' goals and Conor Sheary scored what would prove to be the game-winner only 4:45 into the first period. Paul Dainton stopped 27 of 28 shots for his second win in as many nights as the Minutemen swept the state school weekend series.

Merrimack 7 at Alabama-Huntsville 0
NASHVILLE, TN - Carter Madsen and Jesse Todd each scored twice for the Warriors, who eased any concerns fans may have had after they eked out a 5-4 win at AHU the previous evening. Joe Cannata stopped 24 shots en route to his 12th win of the season.

at Dartmouth 5, UNH 4
MANCHESTER, NH - After Mike Sislo started the scoring five minutes into the first period, UNH spent the rest of the night playing catch-up, matching one Dartmouth goal with one of their own until Doug Jones scored the capper with 1:11 remaining in the third. John Henrion scored twice for the Wildcats, who lost just their fourth game of the year but their third out-of-conference game. Matt DiGirolamo stopped 20 of 25 shots in the losing effort.

at BU 5, Harvard 2
BOSTON, MA - In a possible preview of the Beanpot championship, Chris Connolly scored on the power play and penalty kill and BU got a much-needed win before heading to Merrimack on Tuesday. Kieran Millan stopped 29 of 31 shots before giving way to Adam Kraus with five minutes remaining in the game. BU played a clean game until Garrett Noonan was hit with a game misconduct for elbowing just 67 seconds into the third period.
