Hockey East Week 13 - Friday recap

at No. 17 Maine 4, Providence 3 - OT
ORONO, ME - Brian Flynn scored his 11th goal of the season only 48 seconds into overtime to give the Black Bears a much-needed win against the floundering Friars, who have now lost four straight conference games and haven't won inside Hockey East since a 2-0 victory over Merrimack on November 5th (0-5-3).
Flynn scored Maine's second goal and assisted on the third in the second period. Martin Oullette rebounded from a tough outing against Merrimack in which he played only 20 minutes to record his third win in six outings. Providence generated some secondary scoring with goals by Jordan Kremyr and Tim Schaller in the third period, but it wasn't enough as the Friars were only able to generate 17 shots all night to the Bears' 39.

Vermont 3 at Northeastern 1
BOSTON, MA - Anthony DeCenzo and Jack Downing scored in the first period and Rob Madore did the rest, shutting down the Huskies attack to earn his fourth win of the season. Steve Silva scored the lone tally for Northeastern on the power play at 6:35 of the third and Chris Rawlings stopped 30 or 33 shots in a losing effort.

UMass 5 at Lowell 4
LOWELL, MA - The Minutemen spotted Lowell a one-goal lead before opening the floodgates against RiverHawks freshman netminder Marc Boulanger and then having the tides turned back against them. Daniel Hobbs tallied the game-winner with only 12 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Minutemen a much-needed road win.
